The Writer ‘s Block

Amazing how the world defines success as climbing up. There are many articles on statistics in one area or another of how to be successful. In many cases you will see that of people who have a career (making the bucks) i.e Executives in all categories may have inherited their wealth some may have gotten this success from a good education while some may have had mentors or some who have been in the right place at the right time. In essence someone who is successful has either come from humble beginnings or some by any means necessary to accomplished success in which the world sees. There are a lot books on the market as well how someone may have come from the bottom with humble beginnings and climb their way up the ladder. There is also another side that many of us don’t know sometimes the struggle or maybe the hard work they put in to climb this latter in what we see as successful. Ironically, this brings me to my perspective for 2018. I’ve decided that not to make promises or resolutions for what I could remember I always in one way or another would do every New Year. But this year I believe for the first time in my life I will knowingly wait and let God tell me what I need to do for this new year.

For years, I’ve been told to write it down. I have always been afraid of this gift that God has given me. I’ve always asked the question “Why Me Lord” At an early age I have known that there was something peculiar about me. I can remember now profound it was for me to discover the verse I Peter 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light: I mean I owned this verse it explain to my understanding that this is how God sees me and this is why folks would look at me sometimes with envy sometimes with love. It’s not my fault or my doing when I receive favor and I seemed to always jump back when things don’t go well in my life. Out of all the siblings in my family I was the different one. Always and even today my siblings when they look at me there is always this look that they give me that there is something special about me (with Love) This is who we are in 1 Peter 2:9; that’s you too.

Life in the Master’s Hand

To God Be The Glory! It’s amazing how God either elevates or demotes ( although I’ve experience both) You know how it goes when you’re on top and everything is going well you become just a little self righteousness. Oh my when the Lord bless you with favor in position or in finance; we become like MC Hammer famous song “Can touch this” LOL. But this is real. There are may examples throughout history of how God ordained prophets to do his will. I found an article which I don’t believe I heard before that Most of us are unaware that the first person who is named a prophet is Abraham. Abraham was named a prophet in Genesis 20:7. This took place during the time Abimelech was being instructed by God regarding Sarah, to return her to Abraham, and so God counseled Abimelech to do the following.

Genesis 20:7 Now therefore restore the man his wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for you, and you shall live: and if you restore her not, know you that you shall surely die, you, and all that are yours.

Abraham is the first person directly named as a prophet, but he is chronologically not the first person the Bible shows prophesying. The first person the Bible shows actually prophesying is Enoch. It does not report on this until way back in the book of Jude

Jude 14 And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of his saints.

Here we have Enoch, before the flood, prophesying of the return of Jesus Christ, and His return with the saints. We have Abraham as the first named prophet, and we have Enoch, who was a prophet, and the first one actually shown prophesying, but it is not reported until all the way back in the book of Jude.

Many of us as a people want to have everything going our way. (I’m learning when things go too smooth a storm is surely coming) and for those of us (believers) we know that this called a time of testing it you will whether you will still stand. When this period comes I like to think of when Moses came down from the mountain and the people were in the mindset that man (Moses) was all that they needed he wasn’t with them for awhile and they immediately went back to their old way. In other words they were out of Egypt physically but their mind was still in Egypt. To see this you can look in today’s society where many have fallen. Better yet, you can read about or experience where people of riches and frame become one of the most miserable people on the earth. They experience depression and suicidal tendencies because they all seemed to have a missing void. This is where I believe when God has given everyone a measure of himself in us and it’s up to us to find that measure. That is when you connect with him you didn’t come on your own. i.e. some believers thought that when they accepted Jesus as their Savior that they found Him on their own. What they fail to believe that God had already called them out. The best and simplest way I could explained for example is that before you became a believer or accepted Him there had always been this feeling inside of us that prevented you from harm or to go really deep – Kept you from being killed or you just left a place where tragedy just so happen before or after you got there and in some cases you were in the midst of it. The enemy would give us a thought or it was just luck that you survive I really hate that saying “luck” when I receive and was taught how God was always there for every believer that accepted Him!

” . I read several scriptures but the small faint whisper spoke to me to send Proverb 3: 5-6 (MSG) I like to believe He told me to send. Eugene’s version :

BBB5-12 Trust God from the bottom of your heart;

The Text : The Call to Follow

The text/IM that was sent to Abe read “Get out of the country that you live in and move away from your family and get out of your Father ‘s house and move to a new land which I will show you. The twist to this scenario is that the text/IM came directly from God.

As Abe ponder on this message as if something that he couldn’t grasp if this message was a spam or whether je thought for some unexplained feeling that he knew exactly who sent the message. In his mind he seen the message text back to him say “And I will make you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. As Abe stood in awe; the text continued; It read “And I will bless them that bless you, and curse him that curse you; and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

As Abe inhale all that was shown to him; He knew that there was nothing for him to do but to adhere to what was told to him so he packed up and went. His nephew loved his uncle and knew something special had happen to Abe for him to pack what he had so he decided to leave so he followed Abe. Although Abe was 75 years old when he listen to this call taking his wife with him and his nephew and all of their belongings he didn’t call homeland security or try to figure out the first text or text shown in his mind he just did it. As he moved from land to land not knowing when to stop until he received another text “Unto your seed I will give you this land; and there you shall build an alter unto me who I will appeared unto you”. As Abe move solely unto to the mountain and pitched his tent having the place he left behind and the new land he built an altar as a remembrance of what he believe to be the voice of God. In fact, it was as Abe personally communicated. This wasn’t the last stop and he continued on.

There are two factors in this story which actually comes from Genesis 12:1

(1) Faith is refined by being tested (2) Living by faith in God does work!

The beauty of this verse is that it occupies a prominent place in the history of the Hebrew people. His place is so prominent that it is somewhere impossible to understand and appreciated the Hebrew people as the people of God, without giving some attention to Abraham. The greatest contribution that Abraham made to the Old and New Testaments (even to this present day) was his example of bold, courageous, faith in God. From a contemporary perspective, when the issue of faith is addressed in preaching and teaching, Abraham and his example of faith are often mentioned.

It’s amazing as I read this scripture and learned that in order for God to fulfill His will in Abraham life, He had to call him away from such spiritually destructive environments. I believe for many of us it may not be that drastic as Abraham was the Father of faith in other words no one can has much faith as he did. In saying that, I thank God that sometimes we have to experience Abraham moment or season. When God pulls us to where he wants us to be or to go where he wants us to go. There should be resounding response”Lord, Here am I ~ I’ll go, I’ll do it”

It’s important as we journey that we study God call to Abraham, and Abraham ‘s RESPONSE of faith. If we keep in mind that obeying God’s will is seldom, if ever, easy or convenient: but it is always REWARDING and fulfilling.

True Trust will be Tried (Genesis 11:27-32) Abraham believe in family and family values which met that he had security in this environment in other words he was familiar with his place of residence and he understood and appreciate his dept of faith. God knew this about Abraham and of course as He does he has to test him when he called upon him to leave his familiar environment or comfort zone of the place he grew up in knowing who what and where to get resources for survival. So it becomes the same for us there will be times that our trust in God will be tried. Will you continue to trust Him when things go wrong or will we only trust him when things are going right? How solid is our trust in God when we are challenged to do something different than what we are accustomed to because the change is more in keeping with what pleases God?

Obeying God ‘s Call Carries Built-in Rewards (Genesis 12:1-3) The Lord told Abraham; Leave your country, your people and your father ‘s household and go to the land I will show you” (Genesis 12:1, NIV). Should Abraham obey this command? He would have to sacrifice his safety net. God’s challenge to Abraham could be described as”instruction with no itinerary.” a mandate without a map. What I love about God and I would like to share because I have experience this is that don’t think that this approach taken by God is by no means out of character on how God acts. (we have to stop thinking that God is like us) Oftentimes, God will call on us to obey Him at the expense of surrendering the thing (s) that we rely on the most. (leaving God out in everyday function) God does this so that we will be compelled to wholly lean on Him, so that when He gives us the victory, we will be obliged to give Him the glory!

Lord, teach us to obey Your will, and to more diligently study Your Word that we may know what Your will is. In Jesus’ name, we pray Amen!
